Dr. Frandrea L Brown

Dr. Brown's Background & Approach

As a Medical Family Therapist, I take a holistic approach to mental health and well-being, recognizing the interconnected influence of biological, psychological, relational, social, and spiritual factors on each person's experience. I believe that meaningful and lasting change occurs when we understand individuals within the context of their relationships, life experiences, health, and environment—not simply through the lens of symptoms or diagnoses.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, person-centered, and grounded in the belief that every individual possesses strengths that can support healing and growth. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to explore their experiences at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) serves as my primary framework for change. Through CBT, I help clients identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, develop healthier coping strategies, and build the skills needed to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, flexibility, and emotional resilience.

My work is also informed by a trauma-focused perspective that recognizes how past experiences can continue to influence thoughts, emotions, relationships, and overall well-being. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from distressing experiences. EMDR can be effective in addressing concerns related to trauma, PTSD, medical trauma, adverse childhood experiences, anxiety, depression, and other experiences that continue to impact daily life.

Above all, I view therapy as a collaborative partnership. Together, we work to better understand your story, build upon your strengths, and create meaningful change that supports your goals, relationships, health, and overall quality of life.
